Can you insure a car for a weekend?

If you need two-day car insurance for a weekend, our short-term cover options are perfect. Sometimes your day-to-day car might not be big enough for what you need and borrowing a van may be the easiest option. As well as cars, whether you want to borrow a van to move house or just transport a large, heavy item between households, we offer temporary van insurance, making the process much easier. If you only need to borrow a van for a small amount of time but aren’t insured to cover it, taking out a quick and easy insurance policy is much quicker and easier than trying to amend your or the van owner’s annual insurance policies.

Looking to get away on a road trip and want to borrow a campervan from some friends or family for the occasion? We also have temporary motorhome insurance ready for purchase which can make your trip a breeze. We know that you don’t want to spend your precious time organising insurance when you could be enjoying your stay-at-home holiday and with our quick-to-buy cover, you don’t have to. There are many benefits to temporary car insurance which can be found in our guide.

Can you insure a car for weekends only?

Whether you are a student looking to borrow your parents’ car on a few weekends when they aren’t using it, or just want to split the driving with a friend, our weekend insurance is perfect. You can choose to take out up to a month’s worth of cover if you please, or, if you just need cover on Saturdays and Sundays you can arrange that too.

Provided the car is annually insured by someone else, you are able to take out temporary weekend car insurance policies as often as you need. This is great when you don’t want to amend an annual policy, or don’t know how much you’ll need to use the vehicle.

Weekend car insurance can be arranged easily and start within 15 minutes of procuring your cover. So even if you leave it to the last minute or need quick, emergency cover, it’s fast and simple to organise.

Whether you are visiting a friend or family member and want to borrow their car during the trip, or your usual vehicle is in the garage over the weekend, short-term car insurance means that you don’t need to tackle the arduous process of amending your annual insurance policy and the high prices that can entail. Simply pay for the cover you want and get driving in minutes.

Cover can be arranged and provide motor insurance for a regular or long weekend (or even up to 30 days if you need more time). Our policies are standalone, which means should you have an accident, your annual insurance policy and  No Claims Discount will be unaffected. Free legal expenses cover is included with all weekend car insurance as well. Plus, with all weekend car insurance underwritten by Aviva, the UK’s largest insurer, you know you’re in safe hands.

Should you be planning on a weekend abroad, European cover is an optional extra, along with additional drivers if you need to share the responsibility and breakdown cover. If your annual insurance policy doesn’t cover you for European road trips, then adding on our temporary insurance can mean you get the comprehensive cover you need without the annual price tag.
