Temporary Car Insurance – Why would you need it?
Do you need Temporary car insurance to borrow a car from a relative or friend? Are you test-driving a possible new vehicle, or do you need an additional driver for your vehicle? All these are reasons why you might need to use our great value and competitive cover.
Unlike an annual policy which runs for 12 months, temporary car insurance usually runs for periods of 1 day up to 28 days. If you need to borrow a friend’s car for a week, you could purchase 7 days' cover therefore only buying the cover you need. If you need a few more days, you can buy the extra cover as required.

Is Short Term Insurance suitable for you?
Short term car insurance is available for drivers aged between 21 and 75, however the minimum age can vary depending on the type of vehicle you may need to drive. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence or a full licence from the European Union. You can also buy our short term cover if you hold an Australian or New Zealand driving licence.

Our new learner driver temporary insurance policies are designed for learner drivers aged 17 years and older who want to learn to drive in their parents or a friend’s car. You can buy it by the day, weekly or monthly and cover is comprehensive from Aviva.
