Woman taking a test drive

Test drive car insurance

Before buying a new or used car it is advisable to take it for a test drive. This should help you decide whether the vehicle is a good fit and highlight any potential problems that the seller may have failed to mention. In order to protect yourself when doing so, taking out test drive car insurance is a must.

At Dayinsure we provide excellent value insurance for test drives that will cover most drivers aged between 18 and 75. As you’ll only be driving the car for a short period in most cases, this is a much more convenient and flexible way to get covered.

Insurance for Test Drives

All our test drive car insurance policies are underwritten by Aviva, the largest insurer in the UK, meaning you can rest assured that should anything happen you will be in good hands. Business use and free legal expenses cover are included, with no impact on your No Claims Discount (NCD) on any annual policy should you make a claim.

Insurance options are available for cover of cars, vans and motorhomes, if you’re buying a new vehicle for work or leisure. Cover is available for one day, as a convenient and cost-effective choice and can start within 15 minutes of making a booking.

What You’ll Need for Test Drive Car Insurance

Applying for test drive car insurance is quick and easy. It’s not just for UK drivers either, we can cover customers who hold a full EU, EEA, Australian, New Zealand, South African or Swiss driving licence and have done so for at least six months. This provides a good option if you’re heading to the UK specifically to test drive a car.

In order to apply for insurance for test drives you need to know the following things to get a quick quote:

  • Your name, address, DOB and email
  • Registration number of the car to be insured
  • Passport number (for non-UK, NI and Isle of Man drivers)

If you decide to purchase the short-term insurance policy then you’ll need to enter your driving licence number and payment details (debit, credit card or PayPal). Decide when you need the policy to begin and you’re done.

It only takes a few minutes and ensures you’ll be safe when taking what could be your next car out on a test drive.
