What is temporary van insurance?

Temporary van insurance – sometimes known as short-term or temporary commercial van insurance – covers you for a set period, be it a day, a week or 30 days. It offers the same protections as a regular annual policy, but just for the specific time you need it.

It’s ideal for when you need cover on a van for a short time and don’t want to add it to your annual policy. It can make borrowing a van for a removal job quick, easy and cost-effective. And if you’re going on a test drive, you can get cover (and peace of mind) for that exact period.

When would I need short-term van insurance?

The beauty of temporary cover is its flexibility. Whether you need hourly, daily, weekly or 30 day van insurance, we can help.
Dayinsure’s temporary van insurance can cover a wide range of situations, including:

  • borrowing a van to move to a new house or helping others relocate
  • shifting large items of furniture or equipment
  • insuring a replacement vehicle for one that’s off the road
  • relocating family members to university
  • covering a driver using your van for a short time
  • test driving a van before purchasing.

So, whatever the reason for needing temp van insurance, why not get a quote and see just how affordable our policies can be?

What licence do I need to drive a van?

You can drive a van of up to 3.5t GVW on a standard GB licence in the UK. If you want to drive a van of up to 7.5t GVW, you’ll need a category C1 licence. You can check the status of your driving licence on the government website.

It’s important to remember we only cover vans up to 3.5t GVW.

Can I use my current policy to drive a borrowed van?
